In the last edition of SeguridadExpo, body cameras were the protagonists of the most important international fair of the industry in the country, and in the current context they are becoming more and more relevant every day. For the same reason, the latest news regarding these devices have generated interest in the industry and today companies are preparing to face a new type of demand. The reason? The mandatory use of these devices in police forces. A recent legislation establishes the mandatory use of body cameras in police forces, marking a milestone in the search for greater security and transparency in police procedures. This measure, in line with various initiatives to strengthen police work, guarantees a constant record of actions, helping to raise professional standards and prevent the escalation and initiation of new crimes. Among the benefits of this law is the possibility of using the information collected to review police operations, as well as for educational and training purposes. In addition, these records will be used as evidence to expedite criminal proceedings. In the first stage of implementation, around 4,433 cameras will be assigned to special units of the Carabineros and the Investigative Police (PDI), with an estimated annual implementation cost of 7,000 million pesos. The allocation and expansion of this system will be reviewed and adjusted every three years according to the needs of the institutions. SecurityExpo 2024 The most important international security event in the country, to be held at the Metropolitan Santiago Convention Center between September 25 and 27, will be the stage where exhibitors will showcase the main technologies and tools used worldwide in public and private security.
